Operation LifeSavers Ends on Successful Note

OPERATION LIFESAVERS

Donate Now Nothing means more to a soldier than a message from home, a note from a loved one, friend or even a kind stranger. In an effort to help boost and maintain high morale among American troops deployed in the Middle East, VansForVets.Org has initiated a new project called "Operation LifeSavers". The goal of Operation LifeSavers is to acquire and send Five Thousand (5,000) miniature Life Jackets containing a roll of popular candy by Wrigley's called LifeSavers to the USO HQ serving at Camp Victory in Iraq. From the staging area at Camp Victory the LifeSavers will be distributed to various field stations and to soldiers actually on the front lines in the war zones. Initially, the LifeSavers Committee comprised of Mrs. Kathy Resnick, Chair, Ms. Adrienne Resnick, member/volunteer, Ms. Nicole Resnick, member/volunteer and Master Holden Lane, member/volunteer and 'Chief Candy Tester' have acquired and packaged Five Hundred miniature Life Jackets which are ready for shipment. To date funding for Operation LifeSavers has been provided by Executive Director, Dr. Joe Resnick. The Committee Chair has informed the Executive Director of the Committee's need to raise additional funds to complete the project, approximately Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000). Cost to acquire the miniature Life Jackets, Rolls of LifeSavers Candy and plastic bag/wrappers is slightly under Two Dollars ($2.00) each. The Executive Director has pledged an additional stipend of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) to the Committee enabling the attainment of the benchmark of the first One Thousand LifeSavers packages being ready to be shipped by February 12, 2010. Transportation of the LifeSavers packages has been tasked to elements of the US Army's MP Battalion, Pittsburgh, PA which will coordinate delivery to the troops in active war zones. Thus, VansForVets.Org is asking supporters to help by purchasing one of the miniature LifeSavers for a deserving soldier, sailor or Marine, at the cost of just Five Dollars ($5.00) each. Supporters can purchase as many as desired and the supporters' name (optional) will be placed inside the package along with a 'thank you message' for delivery to some deserving soldier.

Operation "Golden Earring"! Posted by Joe Resnick at 3:47pm on April 30th, 2010 One of our Volunteers came up with an excellent way to help VansForVets.Org raise funds to buy more handicap-equipped vans. It's called, "Operation Golden Earring". Participation in this program is really "EASY"!!! Just take off a pair of old earrings, put them in an envelope, put a stamp on the envelope and drop in the mail to: VansForVets.Org, 206 Freedom Lane, Natrona Heights, PA, 15065-3901. For your donation we'll send you either a T-Shirt, Ball Cap, or Coffee Mug. Just let us know which you prefer by putting a little note in with your earrings. Donations also count toward your accumulation of hours necessary to receive the Presidential Service Award. We award 2 hours for this activity under this program/project. If you have an old or odd earring that you've lost the matching one, send that to us. One of our volunteers is a jeweler. He'll convert the metals to cash for VansForVets.Org and the funds will be used to help us purchase more vans for our clients. Thanks for the help!
